Holiday rental property in Mijas Costa and Marbella

Holiday rentals now outweigh hotels in Marbella and Málaga

In a further effort to clamp down on property owners who do not declare the income from renting out their Costa del Sol homes, central government are working towards new legislation which will force holiday rental websites to share details of properties being advertised along with their owners.
Tourism minister Matilde Asian announced the tax authorities plans to force the advertisers of short term accommodation to hand over the information at a forum attended by tourism chiefs in Málaga last week.

Also attending the meeting, Carlos Perez-Lanzac, from the Andalucía association of tourist lets said that holiday rental booking platforms would comply providing data protection laws were not infringed, whilst pointing out that his members had already questioned certain contradictions in the law.

With the number of private rental accommodation beds now outweighing that of hotel beds in Málaga and Marbella, the forums main topic of conversation was how to regulate this surge within the industry which has doubled in the last 15 months alone.
