According to figures released by the National Statistics Institute (INE) Spain received a total of 60.3 million visitors between January to September of this year, representing a 10.1% increase year on year.

Despite fears that Brexit might reduce the number of visitors from the UK, numbers from Spains largest source market rose 13% to 14.4 million, French visitor numbers increased 9.6% to 9.3 million and Germans 4.3% to 8.9 million. The largest annual increase of 20.8% were visitors from Ireland with a total of 1.5 million. Interestingly the US market also increased 6.9% with a total of 1.6 million visitors. Andalucia, home of the Costa del Sol received a total 8.5 million visitors, an increase of 13.2% on last year.
Of all visitors to Spain during this period a large percentage opted for private accommodation with only 38.2 million staying in hotels which can only be good news for buy-to-let property investors and is clearly having a positive effect on Spains property market with nearly 400,000 homes sold in the twelve months to September this year.
