Leading international property search website TheMoveChannel.com has recently placed both Spain and Málaga at the top of buyers wish lists with enquiries for Spanish real estate outstripping all other destinations.

Receiving more than one in seven enquiries for Spanish property in February of this year, the international property portal ranked Spain as number one country in their Top of the Props index, knocking the USA off the top spot for the first time in seven months.
Achieving it’s highest share of activity since 2013, enquiries for Spanish property more than doubled in February, whereas enquiries for property in the US shrunk from 14.65% in January to 11.38% the following month, ending the countries long period of dominance.
TheMoveChannel.com director Dan Johnson commented “Foreign buyers are still in love with Spanish property”. He then went on to add “Whether it is holiday home hunters seeking sunshine or non-EU buyers from the USA or Middle East going for Golden Visas, investors from around the world are still eager to purchase Spanish property” and concluding that “With the real estate recovery increasingly gathering momentum, though, and mortgage rates remaining at unprecedented lows, there has rarely been a better time to buy a Spanish home.”
Hot on the heels of this report, the leading property search portal released further news that Málaga province, home of the Costa del Sol, had surged to the top spot in their Top 50 Hotspots Index in the first quarter of 2017.
The first time any Spanish location has ranked in first place, Málaga rose 18 places from the final quarter of 2016, accounting for 4.01% of global property searches during the first three months of this year, in the process knocking Italy’s Florence off the top spot.
With Málaga, Almería, Tenerife and Benidorm all in the top five, Spanish destinations held eight of the top ten hotspots, the highest percentage for any individual country since the hotspots index began.
Dominating buyers wish lists in the first quarter, Spain in fact doubled it’s share of the index in the final three months of 2016 being home to 31 of the top 50 hotspots, an all time high for any country.
Locally, the Costa del Sol towns of Torremolinos, Benalmádena, Fuengirola, La Cala de Míjas, Marbella, Estepona and Míjas all made it into the top 50 property search Hotspots.
