Spain has regained its position in the top three for quality of life in Internations annual Expat Insider survey 2017.

Expats enjoying the quality of life in Spain

Nine in ten expats in Spain are satisfied with life in general

Offering an in depth analysis of expat life across the globe, Expat Insider is one of the largest surveys worldwide providing insight into the everyday lives of 12,500 respondents this year representing 166 nationalities living in 188 countries.

The survey focuses on a range of topics with participants answering questions relating to leisure options, travel and transport, health and wellbeing, safety and security and their own personal happiness.

Praised for its enviable climate, leisure options and respondents high levels of personal happiness, Spain’s top three position was an improvement on last years fourth place.

This year an impressive nine in ten of those questioned were satisfied with life in general, with 82% happy with their socialising opportunities while an even greater 89% rated available leisure activities favourably. The country also ranked highly for healthcare with 83% rating the quality of medical care positively and 78% finding it generally affordable.

When it comes to travel opportunities Spain ranked way above the global average (46%) with nearly six in ten expats finding it easy to explore and 84% giving local transport a positive rating.

In the Safety and Security sub-category 91% are generally happy with their personal safety, somewhat surprisingly however only 51% responded positively regarding Spain’s political stability.

Spain frequently ranks highly in surveys of this nature, consistently rating amongst the top destinations for weather and climate, cost of living, family life and of course quality of life. One US American respondent commented “I love the openness and friendly demeanor (of the people). They have made this experience an incredible one so far and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!”
