Today sees the opening of one of the most important events in Fuengirola’s calendar; the “Feria Internacional de los Pueblos”, a festival celebrating the worlds diverse cultural and gastronomic heritages.
Running for five days until Monday 1st May, the annual fair has become a reference on the Costa del Sol, promoting Fuengirola’s multicultural population. From 1pm until 4am each day, the towns fairground will be filled with people from all different nationalities uniting to enjoy the parades and festivities.
This year will see 32 casetas (booths) representing the different regions of Spain along with countries from five continents including the likes of Brazil, Cuba, Jamaica, Thailand and Australia. Each colourfully decorated caseta has it’s own bar offering s a mixture of live music, dancing and entertainment along with delicious food and delicacies from each country.
Setting off from the Plaza de España on Saturday morning, a grand parade featuring all of the countries exhibiting at the fair will fill Fuengirola with colour, music and dancing as it makes its way though the town centre to the feria ground.
Announcing the fair earlier this month under the motto “Fuengirola unites”, the town hall are hoping this years Feria Internacional de los Pueblos exceeds the more than 1 million visitors attracted to previous years events.
