Spanish tourist visitor numbers are expected to increase by 1.5% this summer with the Costa del Sol predicted to receive 7 million visitors between June to September.
Famed as one of the worlds most popular holiday resorts, the Costa del Sol is expecting to receive around 7 million visitors this summer, breaking last years record breaking figures for the same period by some 104,000 holiday makers.
Hand in hand with increasing visitor numbers comes tourist spending which is expected to grow by some 1.4% which equates to an additional 7.4 billion euros being injected into the Spanish economy compared to the same the four month period last year.
Additional to this is the forecast of some 340,000 new jobs to be created in the Costa del Sol between June to September to service the influx of tourist visitors, this would amount to a 3.6% improvement in employment levels compared to the same period in 2017.
The president of the Costa del Sol tourism board, Elias Bendodo, highlighted the economic impact of the additional tourist spending and has committed to an additional 50% investment in over 60 promotional campaigns ensuring the Costa del Sol maintains its position within the global tourism marketplace.
