Málaga, capital of the Costa del Sol, is a city open for international business

In recent years the birthplace of Picasso has received high praise from international media including the New York Times, The Guardian and The Telegraph for its history, culture and gastronomy, however this time the guests were not there to learn about Málaga as a tourist destination.

Titled “Malaga, Open for International Business”, the event was attended by representatives of companies such as the Royal Bank of Scotland, Carlyle Europe Technology, Guggenheim Partners, HG Capital and RCB Bank to learn about Málaga as a destination for businesses planning to expand or move overseas whilst keeping a foothold in the Eurozone.

Málaga and the Costa del Sol have long attracted people from all over the world, not just to visit, but also to live, work and set up businesses. Following the UK’s decision to leave the European Union however, the option of keeping a foot in the EU is being explored by a number British firms and Málaga is aiming to be the primary destination of choice for Eurozone business.

Opening the event, the Mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre announced “We’ve come to London to share the message of a grand and hospitable city; one that is attractive like few in the world, to live in, to invest in and to work in“. Supporting his hometowns bid for business investment and speaking alongside the Mayor was Mario Garcia, CEO of London firm Sequel Business Solutions along with Sergio Corral, director of the Unicaja Bank Foundation. Along with the obvious attractive climate and beautiful surroundings, the pair highlighted Málaga’s excellent communications infrastructure, international community, modern university and particularly the Málaga Parque Tecnológico as advantages for business investment in the city. The rapidly expanding technology park is already home to a list of major international firms including Google, Ericsson, Huawei and Oracle.
