The Costa del Sol Hospital in Marbella has been granted the award of the countries Best Hospital by the Spanish Government.
Spain’s healthcare services regularly rank amongst the worlds best, so it is some achievement to be rated as the best in the country, but Marbella’s Costa del Sol Hospital has recently been awarded just that accolade.
Beating off competition from 135 hospitals throughout Spain to win the “Best Hospital” overall category, the 400 bed public health centre was recognised for its premium service across almost all sectors.
Marina Álvarez, Andalucía’s health minister applauded the hard work of the health professionals who work in the hospital for their service to the community, commenting “These staff have shown through their commitment to our services that everyone is entitled to universal and equal healthcare”.
Now in its 12th year the government awards aim to recognise the achievements of Spain’s healthcare services and continue to enhance standards throughout Spain.
The award for Best Infectious Disease Service went to Cordoba’s Reina Sofia Hospital – also in Andalucía.
It was recently reported that Andalucía’s health service would receive 9 billion euro’s financial support, the largest amount ever received by the region.
